Match Report: 14th Match – Dark View Explorers vs Salt Pond Breakers
Dark View Explorers won the toss and choose to bat first. Explorers started well getting 8 runs off the first over. Things went sedate from there with Sunil Ambris bowling two excellent overs in the powerplay, only conceding 8 runs. The Explorers could only get 28 runs from the powerplay. Shamon Hooper slammed two sixes in the 6th over to push the Explorers to 46/0 from 6 overs. With all wickets in hand, they had the platform to launch to try and get to 90 at least to feel safe.
Donwell Hector had other plans in mind as he had Hooper caught and bowl for 32 from 26 deliveries. Lindon James defended his first two deliveries then slammed the third for four. The Explorers still being being 52/1 from 7 overs. The explorers continued to struggle and could only manage 73/3 from their 10 overs.
Darius Martin, quite famed now for bowling an excellent first over delivered a destructive blow by hitting Sunil Ambris on the helmet, having him retire hurt. On the last ball of the over, he delivered another speedy delivery, striking Kadir Nedd on the body. Only 3 runs conceded in the first over and some psychological damage to the Breakers team. Kemron Strough bowled the 2nd over and the roughing up from Martin played into Strough’s hand as he had Nedd dismissed top edging a pull shot.
Martin came back to bowl the 3rd over, with Ambris now back at the crease after Nedd’s dismissal. Martin went full and Ambris drove for 6. He went full and was disdainfully flicked for another 4, Ambris clearly showing that the knock to the head wasn’t affecting his psyche. Deron Greaves bowled the final powerplay over and had Donwell Hector stumped – the powerplay finishing at 20/2.
Ambris and Thomas teamed up beautifully to take 41 runs combined from the following 3 overs, muscling the bowlers around the ground, taking the score to 61/2 and only needing 13 runs from 18 deliveries. The match was finished in style when Ambris pulled Hooper through mid wicket for 4, finishing the game with 10 balls to spare. Ambris finished with 39 from 22 while Thomas finished on 26 from 16. Breakers continuing their unbeaten run.
