Match Report – 24th Match: Dark View Explorers vs La Soufriere Hikers
Hikers won the toss and chose to field first.
Deron Greaves was taking the attack to the bowlers and got a breezy 20 from 13 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 1 six. Pierre also got couple boundaries to give explorer a solid opening stand of 43 in the powerplay. O’Jay Matthews was in fine bowling form and ripped out the top of Explorers batting line up. He took 3-8 from his 2 overs and ensuring the Explorers couldn’t get a move on, restricting them to 54-3 after 7 overs. Explorers finished their innings on 81/5, with Romano Pierre top scoring with 34 from 31 deliveries, hitting 4 fours and 1 six.
Hooper and Greaves bowled three top overs of the chase, getting the prized scalps of Salvan Browne and Desron Maloney – Hikers 9/2 at that stage. Dillon Douglas, man in form, started to dominate from the start and overs 4 and 5 cost 29 runs taking the score to 38/2 after 5 overs.
Othneil Lewis by now, seems to be part of the feared batting line up. He hit back to back boundaries in the 6th over then smashed a huge hit over long on. 30 runs was required from 24 deliveries. Dean Browne removed Dillon Douglas, to give Explorers hopes of a win. Atticus Browne had other ideas as he hit a hat trick of boundaries around the ground in classical fashion. Othneil Lewis helped himself to couple more sixes during the 8th over and with two runs for victory, Atticus Browne turned one down to fine leg to secure victory. Lewis was not out on 31 from 15 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Atticus Browne also remained not out; he scored 18 from 6 deliveries, hitting 4 fours.
